About Siobhan Cowling Virtual Assistance

Hi! I'm Siobhan, a UK based Virtual Assistant providing support to education professionals, from my home in Kent.

I started my career in education over 15 years ago as a Teaching Assistant in a secondary school. Working in various roles within primary and secondary schools, my goal was complete my degree and become a teacher. Whilst working full time in schools and raising two children, I studied with the Open University and gained a BA (Hons) Open Degree. My modules included Childhood Studies, English Literature and Mental Health Studies.

It was only whilst studying, and being involved in the classroom, that I realised my dreams of becoming Miss Honey from Matilda were not the same as they once were. Seeing first hand the stresses placed on teachers and having multiple teacher friends leave the profession, I decided it was no longer my path.

​

This led me on to Childminding. As an Ofsted registered Childminder, I created an Early Years setting in my home, welcoming children into a setting where they had the comforts of home and I had to joys of teaching my own way. I loved the creativity of being able to plan and carry out my own activities in a nurturing environment and being able to really put in effort and build bonds with each child in my care. But, it was very lonely and it overtook my home.

Having had admin experience within schools and dabbling in weekend admin work to make a little extra money, I decided to shake things up a little and try my hand at  full time admin. My gosh do I love admin. I never thought I would be as passionate about it as I am. I love the organisation, versatility and chance to communicate with others in a way that helps solve problems. Also, being left alone at my computer to just get on with things is a big win!

Then, I found out about Virtual Assistance. The rest, as they say, is history.
